Tom Cruise was not happy when thousands of dollars worth of was reportedly stolen after his bodyguard’s was hijacked outside a Birmingham hotel.

The thieves are believed to have used a scanner to clone the signal from the $190,000 BMW’s keyless ignition fob and enter the car, the outlet noted. It is also suspected that they may have gained access to the car’s computer hardware by jamming the driver’s fob using the same radio frequency used to lock the car.

The insider said that the ordeal was embarrassing for ’s security team. The driver of the car was said to have been “hopping mad” but “not as mad as Tom.”

The bodyguard reportedly found that the car had disappeared from its parking space on Wednesday, August 25. It was not said to have been parked in a secure, barrier-protected car park a few minutes away which was reportedly recommended by the hotel.

The bodyguard had been driving the Jack Reacher star around Birmingham for several days. Cruise has reportedly been staying in a mansion in Kent while filming and was traveling by helicopter to Birmingham. The car was said to have been on permanent standby to pick him up.

“We received a report of a BMW X7 stolen from Church Street, Birmingham in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The car was recovered a short time later in Smethwick. CCTV enquiries have been made in the area that the car was recovered from. Inquiries are ongoing,” a police spokesperson told the publication.

Earlier this week, the Hollywood icon surprised a Warwickshire family when he landed his helicopter in their backyard following the
temporary closure of the Coventry Airport. The family was informed that a “VIP who was running late” would have to use their lawn to land. “It turned out to be an incredible day. It was surreal, I still now can’t believe it happened,” Alison Webb said, per the Express.
