According to the Grant County Coroner’s Office in Washington, Harvill “died after crashing his motorcycle while performing a practice jump at the Grant County International Airport” on Thursday, June 17. 

“His family has been notified,” a spokesperson told E! News. “Our deepest sympathies go out to Alex’s family, friends and loved ones.”

According to the coroner’s office, an autopsy will be conducted on Friday, June 18, to determine the manner and cause of death.

In a video obtained by TMZ, Harvill crashed ahead of landing on the dirt mound and fell off his bike.

Harvill was initially reported as injured by the Moses Lake Airshow on Instagram who shared that he was hurt “during his warm-up before the jump” and was taken to the hospital.

“Our hearts are with Alex and his family, and wish him a speedy recovery. All proceeds from today’s jump will be donated to Alex to contribute to his medical expenses,” the Moses Lake Airshow wrote.

CNN reported that Harvill was trying to beat a record set by Robbie Maddison on March 29, 2008 by jumping 351 feet, according to Guinness World Records. He already broke a record of his own with a 297-foot dirt-to-dirt jump in 2013.

Fans took to social media to offer their condolences and tributes.

“Rest in Peace to a legend,” one commented on his latest Instagram post.

“We’re going to miss you bro !!! Rest easy. 💔,” a third fan said.

Only last month, the biker welcomed his second child, with his wife, Jessica Harvill. Watson Robert Harvill was born on May 18. He is also a father to Willis, 4.
