Patricia Avila and her sister Maria were said to be cleaning ’s house on December 12 when the occurred, according to a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court. Patricia claimed that Brown failed to protect her and her sister from the unreasonable risk of harm from the dog, TMZ reported. 

The dogs were normally kept in another part of the house away from and out of sight of the women. Maria went to the backyard to empty the vacuum cleaner and one of the dogs, a Caucasian shepherd, growled and her and then “proceeded to viciously attack.”

Patricia reportedly ran outside when she heard her sister screaming and found her “covered in blood while she was screaming and crying for help.” Brown is said to be the one to call 911.

According to the lawsuit, Maria spent several days in the hospital and required two surgeries as the dog injured Maria’s face around her eye. She also had several inches of skin missing from her arm, according to Patricia, and bites on her leg.

Patricia “suffered severe emotional distress” after the attack on her sister which includes anxiety, depression, panic attacks and post-traumatic stress disorder, according to the lawsuit. She is now said to be “reluctant to leave her home and cannot stop re-living the pain that she experienced as she watched her sister suffer through that horrendous attack that day.”

It is not yet known if Maria is filing a separate lawsuit. Brown has not released a public statement on the matter.
