The controversy began when Osbourne defended Morgan’s stance on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey where he said he did not believe anything the Duchess said. Osbourne got into a heated argument on-air with Sheryl Underwood which put The into a hiatus. “I feel like I’m about to be put in an electric chair because I have a friend who many people think is a racist, so that makes me a racist,” Osbourne said at the time while her cohost said “what he’s uttered that’s racist.”

Osbourne later released a statement where she apologized to anyone she may have offended and said she felt “blindsided” and got “defensive” on air. After the episode of a series of allegations were made about Osbourne, which claimed she allegedly called Julie Chen “slanty eyes,” Holly Robinson Peete claimed Osbourne said she was “too ghetto,” and referred to Sara Gilbert, who is a lesbian, as a “p***y licker.” Osborne dismissed the allegations against her as “crap” to the Daily Mail earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Morgan parted ways with Good Morning Britain after the royals’ interview with Winfrey. “Suddenly, I reached a moment of total gut clarity: f**k it, I wasn’t going to apologize for disbelieving Meghan Markle, because the truth is that I don’t believe Meghan Markle,” he told the Daily Mail about stepping down from the show. A permanent replacement for Morgan has not been chosen and ITV has been rotating the position for the time being.
