- The 28-year-old unnamed man “weirded out” by the truth by his girlfriend’s bathroom habit and turned to internet for help
Apparently, the guy was running low on his socks and asked his girl whether she’d put them in the laundry but the simple question cause an argument between them.
It seems that his girlfriend had been hiding something from him for a few months, and when confronted about it, she broke down in tears.
And After finding out the secret and being “weirded out” by the truth, the man seeks help from the internet
The unnamed man, 28, revealed all in a post on Reddit’s Relationship Advice forum.
He starts by saying that he and his 26-year-old girlfriend hadn’t been together very long, but their relationship had gotten serious pretty fast and they recently moved in together.
Since moving in, she’s taken ownership of the laundry and doesn’t ever let him help. At first he thought it was “sweet” that she wanted to do it all, however started to get weird when his socks began to disappear.
But now he knows there was a very different reason for her doing the household chore when he uncovered the filthy mystery while taking out the bin.
The man noticed a pair of his socks in a small plastic bag sitting on top of the garbage and was shocked to find out that his socks were covered in what “looked like poop”.
They don’t have pets or kids, and how on earth can a poop be on his socks., he couldn’t understand how it would have happened.
But after confronting his partner, she admitted that she prefers to use socks to wipe her bum instead of toilet paper.
“I flat out asked her if it was a fetish. It’s not a fetish.
“She confessed to using the socks after going to the bathroom. I found out the reason she always does the laundry is because she was hiding the fact that she uses socks to wipe with, primarily her own.
“She admitted she has done this for a long time. Her reasoning, as best I can understand, is that because she is a germaphobe (her word) she is afraid toilet paper will tear and is afraid of getting her hands messy in any way.”
“She uses socks because it covers her entire hand. After she’s done with them she throws them away. She used mine because she didn’t have any other socks.
“I hope we can laugh about this later. I’m trying to find the humor in it now, but I’m still weirded out.”
As of writing, the post gained more than 5,000 people comments and has offered advice to their peculiar case with user who said to they were therapist suggested his girlfriend may have OCD.
They replied: “As a therapist, it sounds close to OCD or coprophobia (aka fear of feces).”
“Usually with OCD there are themes/categories of things in which someone has obsessions and/or compulsions about. So for this it could fall under fear of contamination, does she have other behaviors that aside from using socks to wipe like frequent/repeated handwashing? Also, usually people with OCD have more than one domain in which they may have obsessions and/or compulsions. Does she have any other behaviors like checking things multiple times? Lastly, people with OCD usually know that their obsessions and compulsions are irrational, they just can’t help themselves.
‘If it’s literally just isolated to feces and nothing else, it may be more of a phobia.
‘Either way, the treatment is the essentially the same: exposure therapy.”
While others suggested the girl try putting a sock on her hand and holding toilet paper through the sock or that the couple invest in a bidet instead.
