Despite what you may think, celebrity children don’t always have it easy. Yes, they may have access to large quantities of money and entry into some of the world’s most exclusive places simply because of their connections, but they also have a legacy to live up to.

Can they compete with their parent’s career? Or will they simply crash out and burn in a rehabilitation center after indulging in a lavish lifestyle?!

For Cordell Broadus, these questions have plagued him since his birth in 1997. As the son of rap icon Snoop Dogg, he had a lot to live up to. Having sold 35 million records worldwide since he was discovered by Dr.Dre in 1992, the 46-year-old musician is a bona fide star.

But Snoop Dogg, who temporarily changed his name to Snoop Lion in 2012, is not only a star within the music industry. The California-born rapper is also an actor, director, music producer, philanthropist and fashion icon – notorious for his penchant for fur coats.

His fame has seen fans overlook his questionable criminal past, which includes convictions for drug possession, preparing drugs for sale, possession of a firearm, assault, vandalization (which resulted in him being banned from entering the UK for four years). All this was in addition to high profile case in 1993, in which Snoop Dogg and an accomplice were accused of murdering a rival gang member.

The pair were defended by Johnnie Cochran – the same attorney that successfully defended OJ Simpson a year later – who managed to get them off of the charges.

Furthermore, Snoop, who was a member of the notorious Rollin’ 20 Crips gang, famously told Rolling Stone how he was a professional pimp between 2003 and 2004, before giving up the work to spend more time with his family.

This colorful history makes Snoop Dogg a larger than life character. But his young son is catching up with him quickly!
