Ending a bad relationship is one of the most trying times in one’s life, especially if you’re married. There’s a certain amount of humiliation, embarrassment, and sadness that comes with splitting up, especially when you were dedicated to spending the rest of your life together.

It’s easy to feel sorry for yourself, and the risk of depression is very, very real. But some people fight their depression tooth and nail by lightening things up after a trying divorce.

Check out the creative, funny, and downright silly ways these people worked past their post-divorce blues.

Blowing up the wedding dress

43-year-old Kimberly Santleben-Stitler was married for 14 years before she and her now ex-husband called it quits. And like a True Texan who believes in going big or going home, Kimberly decided to blow up her wedding dress in a spectacular fashion.

She received some help from her father and brother-in-law in crafting the explosive finale to her divorcee party. She donned a T-Shirt that read, “Y’all I’m single AF.” In an interview with the Centre Daily Times, she said that she went through such great lengths to destroy the dress because, “it represented a lie.”

How she blew it up was pretty insane, too: she shot at the dress with a rifle rigged with 20 pounds of explosives. The subsequent blast was heard by people at least 15 miles away.

Kimberly’s hilarious, overly-Texan reaction to her divorce is getting both cheers and jeers from people on social media.

The critics don’t seem to faze Kimberly too much. She seems to be enjoying the high life. She even set a photo of the act as her Facebook profile picture.

Although she opted to go for a huge gesture in celebrating her life after divorce, she doesn’t recommend others do the same, unless they’re well-versed in the art of pyrotechnics:

“I would only recommend it for people that know how to use this stuff,” she said in an interview with Circa.

Not letting the dress go to waste

When Kevin Cotter’s wife left him, he decided to cope with the sudden dissolution of his marriage by coming up with some really creative ways to use her dress: all of which he chronicled on his blog and in his book, 101 Uses for My Ex-Wife’s Wedding Dress.

To say that he got silly with it would be an understatement: Kevin really stretches the possibilities of what an old wedding dress could be used for and the results are absolutely hilarious. From donning it as hunting apparel to washing his car, he’s really thought of everything.

He even fashioned it into a sumo wrestling mawashi.

There are some pretty terrible moments and situations to take selfies. For example, this dude who gave a thumbs up and snapped a photo in the middle of divorce proceedings at what looks like a lawyer or legal mediator’s office. The expression on his ex-wife’s face is one of the most perfect things ever captured on the internet.

This couple below though seemed a lot happier in their photo, though.

There’s a silver lining in everything I guess. I gotta hand it to these divorce parties though, because they look absolutely LIT, as the cool kids say.
