On the afternoon of February 14, 2018, a former begrudged student entered his former school and murdered 17 people. Nineteen-year-old Nikolas Cruz became responsible for one of the largest mass shooting in US history he arrived at his former high school in an Uber taxi, set off the fire alarm in the freshman building, and began shooting indiscriminately with his AR-15 style semi-automatic rifle. He killed a total of 14 students and three staff members and injured many more.

The shooting ignited the endless debate of gun laws in America, as millions of people across the country furiously battle to significantly reduce the number of firearms readily available to so many people.

However, now more news has been revealed that has further infuriated the nations.

It has been confirmed that on the afternoon Cruz opened fire at Stoneman Douglas High Scool in Parkland, Florida, an armed school resource deputy by the name of Scot Peterson (pictured above) stayed outside the building and his from danger, despite having a gun on his person.

People online have branded him a “coward”, as instead of carrying out his duty and protecting the defenseless students during the six-minute massacre, security footage shows Peterson reportedly “seeking cover behind a concrete column leading to a stairwell”.

Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel confirmed that Peterson “never went in”.

Check out the conference below:

Peterson reportedly said that he was worried Cruz was lurking around the parking lot, and that he could not hear the gunshots or screams that would have led him to the actual location of a rampaging Cruz.
