Doppelgängers have always been a source of endless fascination to us humans. So many factors determine what a person look like, including genetics, chance, and lifestyle and that’s why it’s so shocking whenever two identical strangers stumble upon each other.

There are apps out there that promise to find your celebrity doppelgänger, or animal doppelgänger – well now there’s an app which will find your famous portrait doppelgänger for you!

One of the best examples of doppelgängers happened onboard a plane when a man named Neil Douglas sat down next to a stranger, Robert Stirling, who bore an uncanny resemblance to him. It was the perfect opportunity for a selfie and their picture went viral.

Sadly, however, most people never get a chance to meet their doppelgängers. Unless you’re a celebrity with countless adoring fans around the world, you’re going to have to rely on chance if you ever want to stand a chance of meeting your nonbiological twin.

Photography is a relatively recent invention, and while many people have had their similarities between them and their historical twins pointed out to them, few have found a doppelgänger in a famous portrait unless they’ve been an observant museum-goer… until now.
