A planned Memorial Day parade in Bellmore, NY, was unfortunately cancelled due to bad weather. But Chris Iannacone, a World War II veteran still showed up, unaware of the news. Nicholas DeGregorio, 11, was similarly aware that the marching band he was supposed to play in had already left.
The devoted family decided to drive the parade route themselves, with Nicholas playing the trumpet out the window. When they reached the memorial, they found Iannacone in a mobility scooter along with his daughter.
After learning from Iannacone’s daughter that her father was upset the parade had been cancelled, Nicholas decided to give him his own private rendition of “You’re a Grand Old Flag.”
This is one happy man.
