Scientists agree that the dinosaurs went extinct approximately 65 million years ago, but that doesn’t mean that every monster from this era met the same fate. Recently, an insanely rare beast called the frilled shark was captured on film, and it’s far older than the dinosaurs that lost their lives eons ago.

This creature’s needle-sharp teeth aren’t the creepiest things about it, however. More haunting is the fact that some fossils of this shark are 95 million years old, though scientists say it’s possible that this thing has been lurking around on Earth for 380 million years.

Very few people have seen this shark first hand, which is understandable, since it makes its home 2,000 feet below the ocean’s surface. Almost 400 million years of existence makes humanity’s 200,000 years on Earth look pretty unimpressive, right?
